Sometimes the book I read after a trip somewhere really lands for me. That’s been the case for me a number of times, after visiting Vietnam and Japan in particular.
I’ve had exactly this experience with this book which I picked up after my recent visit to Egypt. As I’ve been reading through each chapter I (again) pictured myself visiting amazing sites. The Pyramids of Giza, Valley of the Kings, Tutankhamun’s Tomb, Karnak Temple, Seti’s Temple and Medinet Habu.
Even though I’m home now the pictures and descriptions in this book provide context of a long history from Early, Old Kingdom and Middle Kingdoms through to the Late Period and the Ptolemaic dynasty.
If you are looking for a book that will transport you to ancient Egypt this might be the one for you. Ancient Egypt, The Definitive Visual History published by DK Books.
